How Does It Feel to be Perfect? (Knowing Jesus P3)

Before He was Jesus.  In the first part of this series, Knowing Jesus, we began at the beginning in Genesis 1.  We examined Old and New Testament verses that state the Second Person of the Trinity was present and participated in creation of all things.  The Holy Spirit – the Third Person – was as well.  Everything was perfect from God to all of His creation.  Then entered Satan and sin – the fall of man and all creation.  God alone remained perfect.

  • Sin destroyed perfection and brought with it condemnation—the death penalty.

How can we go from destruction and condemnation back to perfection in the eyes of God?

HE CAME

God Incarnate.  In Part 2 of the series, we examined what incarnation means and why it had to happen.  He came as the Son of God, born to Mary and Joseph, Whose name was given by the angel of the Lord.  The Second Person of the Trinity became God Incarnate for one reason.

You will call Him Jesus for He will save His people from their sins.”

In other words, perfect Jesus came to restore perfection to those who would believe.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  John 3: 16

“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.”  John 8: 24

  • Perfection destroyed sin and brought salvation.

Only Perfection Can Restore Perfection

HE LIVED

  • Perfect Life.

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  2 Corinthians 5: 21

“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the Author of their salvation through sufferings.”  Hebrews 2: 10

“(Jesus) WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH” 1 Peter 2: 22

Living the perfect life was the only reason Jesus could be killed and considered the perfect or acceptable sacrifice.

HE DIED

  • Perfect Blood Sacrifice was required by God (Crucified on Good Friday)

“Your lamb must be an unblemished year-old male, and you may take it from the sheep or the goats.”   Exodus 12: 5

but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1: 19

“how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God (the perfect sacrifice), cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9: 14

“…and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” 1 Peter 2: 23-24

NOW SUNDAY HAS ARRIVED!

HE ROSE

  • Resurrection
    • Demonstrated His power over sin and death.
    • Bore witness to hundreds that His testimony was true.
    • He was God Incarnate because all knew that only God had power over life and death

Now all who believe in His name and receive Him as Savior are made perfect before God.

“For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.” Hebrews 10: 14

If you are born again in Christ, this means you!

If not, there is no better day to be your new birthday than this Resurrection Sunday.  A day you will remember forever and be forever remembered as perfect before God through the precious blood of Christ!
