Who Jesus is

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it … And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John: 1-4, 14

Why Jesus came

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:32

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19: 10

“and He Himself is the propitiation (appeasement or satisfaction) for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”  1 John 2:2

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…”  1 Timothy 1:15

What Jesus Did

“Then they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, and He will be resurrected on the third day … just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”  Matthew 20: 19, 28

“For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.”  1 Corinthians 15: 

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5: 8

Where Jesus is Now

“So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.” Mark 16:19

“…I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;” 1 John 2:1

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession...”  Hebrews 4: 14-16

When Jesus returns (“…His kingdomwill have no end.”  Luke 1:33b)

Rapture: “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

The Second Coming: “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Matthew 25: 31

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Timothy 4:1

If you are a born-again Christian, I pray this helps you better understand your Savior and Lord.  If you are still trying to find God or your way to Him, I hope this leads you there. If you go to Him repenting your sins and with a contrite heart asking Jesus to save you, He will. Let Him be your Christmas gift this year and this will be your new birthday as well!
